“Enhancing Transitions – Client Perspectives” project
What creates seamless service for Employment Ontario clients and learners? How can we support them for successful referrals and transitions between EO services?
Service co-ordination is an important piece for Employment Ontario (EO) services.
Simcoe/Muskoka Literacy Network (SMLN) and Metro Toronto Movement for Literacy (MTML) were partners in a project called Enhancing Transitions – Client Perspectives. This project was funded by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, now called Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development (MAESD).
The objective of this project was to learn the perspectives of EO learners and clients who have experienced referrals and transition between Employment and Literacy services. We wanted to know what worked best for them when referred and/or transitioned to another service provider. Some of the things we wanted to know were
• what did and didn’t work for them
• what were/are the barriers
• suggestions for improvement, from their perspectives
The project built on a previous project called “Formalizing Transtitons Between Literacy and Employment Services”, which looked at transitions from the viewpoint of service providers. The insights gained from the 2 projects were combined into a Revised Guide to Current and Emerging Practices in Transitions.
